Before the mind can grow still, the body must be clear. Shatkarma — the six classical cleansing practices of Hatha Yoga — prepares the physical vessel so that deeper practices like Pranayama and Dhyana can take root. At Drashta Yoga, we approach Shatkarma not as ritual but as radical self-honesty: the willingness to remove what no longer serves.

Key Practices

  • Jal Neti: Nasal cleansing with saline water to remove impurities and improve breathing.
  • Kunjal Kriya: Stomach cleansing to remove acidity and toxins.
  • Trataka: Steady gazing to cleanse the eyes and improve concentration.

Shatkarma is suited for students who feel physically sluggish, have digestive sensitivity, or find their meditation practice blocked by physical restlessness. It is also valuable for those preparing for intensive Pranayama or Yoga Nidra practice. Ritu guides each technique carefully — no prior experience with cleansing practices is needed.
